Respond, Don’t Chase
Most people are living in an illusion based on someone else’s beliefs.
- Jen Sincero, “You Are a Badass”
Recently I sat with a client as we walked through their Human Design chart.
Each Type in Human Design has a strategy. Types are Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor, or Reflector. Your strategy outlines how to respond to life’s opportunities in a way that feels most authentic to you.
Most of my clients are Manifesting Generators or Generators and their strategy is "To Respond."
Responding can be so simple and one of the most challenging aspects to grasp. When clients begin to work with their designs, it starts to make more sense.
We're taught that if we want something we should go after it, which is how we end up living our lives doing what we think we're supposed to do, leading to frustration and disappointment.
Responding to opportunities isn't about forcing or initiating, it's all about being open to what shows up for you, and then knowing when it's time to say yes.
This isn't about sitting on the couch waiting for things to happen for you. So, how do you know when the time is right?
It's all about listening to what's already unfolding for you.
You may feel a response in your body, a pulling towards, an excitement that's instantaneous, or notice something repeatedly shows up as a sign. It can even be the quiet whisper side of you.
I encourage you to pay attention to what’s showing up for you.
Drop into your body and ask, “Is this right for me?” and notice how it feels. If you sense a closing or contracting, it’s likely not the right opportunity for you right now.
A few examples of responding may look like if you're a Manifesting Generator or Generator:
When you receive an invitation to an event see how your body reacts.
Pause before replying to a text—notice how your gut feels about responding.
Choose meals based on what makes your mouth water in the moment.
Wait for project opportunities that make you feel excited at work.
When deciding to buy something, see if you feel excitement or indifference.
Let creative ideas find you and respond to the ones that energize you.
Let the right book or course find you and notice if it ignites curiosity.
Respond to business partnerships that feel like a full-body yes.
When an opportunity arises, check if it gives you energy before committing.
